· Proceed for Almarasan Gorge is a popular natural attraction located near Almaty, Kazakhstan. The gorge is about 25 kilometres southeast of Almaty and is a popular destination for hiking, trekking, and rock climbing.
· The Almarasan Gorge is known for its beautiful scenery, including lush forests, crystal-clear streams, and impressive rock formations. The area is also home to a wide variety of wildlife, including deer, foxes, and eagles. The hiking trail in the gorge is well-marked and relatively easy to follow, with a total distance of about 5 kilometres.
· The trail also offers stunning views of the surrounding mountains. For those interested in rock climbing, the gorge offers a number of challenging routes. There are several climbing areas in the gorge, with routes ranging from easy to extremely difficult.

· The canyon formation is along the banks of the fast flowing Charyn River in a northern flow stretch of about 80 kilometres, which is a tributary of the Ile River; the river has a total length of 393 kilometres. The river rises from the Tian Shan Mountains that is spread over the arid semi-desert to the east of Almaty. In parts, it attains a depth of 150 to 300 metres. The geological formation of the canyon is of sedimentary red sandstone which has been subject to the "atmogenic process" of water and wind erosion resulting in "weird and colourful formations" in the form of sculptures.
